Quadratic Exploration (from Chris Harrow, Sept 2010)
In our first meeting, we explored what happened when the parameters of a standard-form quadratic function (stdquad.gif) were varied. The effects of a and c are commonly known, but what happens when b changes is less known. Here is the document () we used in our first meeting. Because the Nspire CAS sometimes has difficulties solving these equations, I used the Wolfram Alpha site for a more robust (and free!) online CAS.


Deriving the Linear Regression WITHOUT Calculus (from Chris Harrow,Nov 2010)
This CAS tns document walks you through the creation of the linear regression equation without using any calculus at all. Explanations are included on notes pages throughout the document. Feedback is welcome.()

Demonstrating Volumes of Revolution (from Dennis Wilson, Feb 2011)

I created this Nspire document to model both the washer and shells methods using the construction of loci . The two functions can easily be changed in the entry line and the axis of rotation can be dragged to any location. The width of the rectangular slice is set to the value of the x-scale and can be varied by editing that value. The point "Rotation" can be dragged to simulate the rotation of the rectangular slice around the axis. There are four pages. The first set of two pages models the washer method and the second set models the shell method. The second page of each set has the construction of the "3-D" slice using various loci. These slices can be dragged across various values of x and the slices changes accordingly. I hope to finish the document with pages for rotations that involve slices perpendicular to the y-axis but so far I am running into mysteriously disappearing points when changing the direction.

Using Loci to Teach Calculus(from Dennis Wilson, Apr 2011)
These are the Nspire files I used to demonstrate both teaching the concept of the Derivative conceptually and teaching inverse functions. I will add some instructions for their use sometime in may. Plase email me if you have any question about them before that.
